Last month, members of the INSIGHT team took part in the annual Bloomsbury Festival in central London, showcasing the six-foot robot A.L.I.C.E. (short for 'Artificial Learning Intelligent Computer Eye'), with her amazing ability to recognise just about anything put in front of her.
Designed to help members of the public (and young people in particular) understand how machine learning works, A.L.I.C.E. proved very popular with the hundreds of visitors who came to the in-person event at Senate House in Bloomsbury.
Visitors were tasked with showing A.L.I.C.E. a random object to see if she could work out what it was using the power of artificial intelligence. The challenge was to find something she was unable to recognise - not an easy task!
